GOD BROUGHT ME HERE: TONY
By religious correspondent Hal O'Luya
DEVOUT City signing Tony Rougier last night revealed God had brought him to Ashton Gate.
The former Brentford star told how the Saviour picked him up just off Junction Two of the A4(M) at the roundabout near Chiswick High Road .
Rougier revealed Scott Murray made the kind offer after realising it would save time for them to travel down the M4 together in his black Mercedes CLK.
He said: “Scott Murray said he was on his way down from Reading and was happy to give me a lift so I took him up on it. Without it, I'd never have found my way.
“There were roadworks near Swindon and it's always a bit of a bugger coming off the M32 near Ann Summers at rush hour, but apart from that the trip down was uneventful.
“But God is the reason I am here today. It was very good of him to give me a lift.”

Rougier also revealed he was nearly tempted by evil before turning to Murray .
He added: “I thought about riding with the Devil, but it turned out Tony Pulis was heading up to Stoke so he was going in the wrong direction.”
Deeply religious Rougier, 32, told how he originally considered signing for the Gas because the prospect of being crucified every week appealed to him.
But he revealed he was tricked into joining City after being told Jesus would be partnering him up front.
He said: “I came down to watch a training session and everyone was raising their hands towards Heaven and shouting out ‘Jesus Christ!'
“I figured he must be one of the other new signings but it turned out that's what everyone does whenever Lee Peacock takes a shot these days.”
But Murray ruled out a carshare with fellow new signing Darren Caskey because he didn't want to bugger up the suspension in his swanky motor.
The winger added: “It's a pain in the arse stopping for petrol at the best of times, without waiting for someone to clear out all the pies from the fridge.”
