End Of The Line For Wilson?
Danny Wilson stunned both Bristol City’s supporters and hierarchy alike last Saturday morning, with his frank admission that he’d “taken the team as far as he could”.
Speaking from the team’s hotel prior to the league fixture against Hartlepool United, the Robins’ supremo confessed “This is a club with big ambitions and I know I can’t take the team any further. At 275 miles, this is easily the furthest away trip we will make this season and I can’t envisage taking the club any further, unless they reintroduce the Anglo-Italian cup or something, but that seems unlikely.”

When Wilson was presented with the statistic that both Jimmy Lumsden and Russell Osman (predecessors in the Ashton Gate hot seat) had taken the club further during their tenures, when visiting Newcastle United (fully 20 miles further from Bristol, not to mention Chesterfield), Wilson commented “Obviously, to the layman, that suggests that they took the club further than I have, but they had the luxury of competing in a higher division than I am operating in, so it’s not fair to compare our records.”
