City legend Brian Tinnion has joined The Incider team. Our new star columnist will be giving his own personal views on City's campaign and giving readers a player's perspective of what goes on behind the scenes at the Gate over the coming months. So here goes…
I'm delighted The Incider has offered me this opportunity to do a regular column on the site. I hope you all enjoy reading it.
First of all, I would like to say how pleased I was to see Simon Clist do so well against Barnsley . And well done for the reaction the supporters gave him! He was absolutely thrilled by the support. It was a game we dominated and should have won. Barnsley will think they have done the hard part, but we will have to see about that! I must admit a draw did not exactly have me jumping off my seat. However, if we see off Barnsley it gives us a very good chance of progressing in the competition.
The Christmas and New Year fixtures are going to be vital to how our promotion bid pans out. Eight points off the top is too much, and we need a winning run to reduce that sooner rather than later. Games at Rushden and Brentford, and home games to Stockport and Bournemouth , are all ones where we are capable of taking maximum points. We must make no mistake about looking for exactly that.
This division is very tight and waiting for a team to take it by the throat. We have the squad to do just that. I've also got my eye on the Bournemouth game for a personal target which I've had in my mind for a while. All being well, if I play in the four matches before that, it would by my 500th game in all competitions for City - a very proud moment for me. I think that would take me to third or fourth in the all-time appearance list for the club.
Keep up the support during what is going to be a crucial time in our bid for what we all want - PROMOTION!
Cheers
Tinman
