Show Your True Colours At Red and White Night III!

The Incider is supporting Red and White Night III. Here organiser Pete Smith – a.k.a. Percy Parrot – calls on all Incider readers to turn Ashton Gate into a blaze of colour to create an intimidating atmosphere for our rivals Cardiff City as we push for promotion.

Following two hugely successful Red and White Nights in recent years (both in local derbies against Bristol Rovers which City won 3-2 and 3-0 respectively) the fans of Bristol City have again teamed up with the club to prepare an evening of colour, noise, passion and atmosphere. And this time it is against Cardiff City for the crucial promotion clash on Tuesday April 22.

The game needs no hyping up - two big clubs both pushing for promotion, just a few points separating them with three games to go!! However, Red and White Night aims to make the atmosphere just that little bit more special. On the lead-up to the game, a special mix of music will be played over the new P.A. system, and as the two teams walk onto the pitch there will be a balloon release and fireworks. But most important of all will be the part that we, the fans, play in the event. We are all asked to wear an outer layer of red to give Ashton Gate that flash of colour. But don’t stop at that. We are all being asked to pump up the volume and make ourselves heard in a bid to help the team on their way to victory. So get your kit on, dig out your scarf, flag and stupid red ‘n’ white wig, get down to Ashton Gate and sing your hearts out- regardless of the score.

Red and White Night is, importantly, a day for everyone - including families. In what will surely prove to be a tense game, it is vital for everyone that our passion is displayed in the correct manner. Previous Red ‘n’ White Nights have provided the best atmospheres produced at Ashton Gate for years while all passing off peacefully. Hopefully we can all play our part in doing that again. Getting involved is not hard. Just buy your match ticket and turn up on the day. Just by being there you can be part of Red and White Night and leave the Cardiff team in no doubt they are playing away from home. So be proactive - all you have to do is wear red, bring your scarf, flags, banners, balloons etc and sing your hearts out for the whole match.

Promoting and preparing for Red and White Night takes a lot of effort, and although the club are helping us this is being done by the fans, for the fans. If you can help me in promoting Red and White Night by helping me print flyers or posters, please email me at P.P.Smith@lse.ac.uk Equally, if you can help set up on the day please email me.

Get ready, spread the word and enjoy Red and White Night III!
