The Last Time We Were In Division 1

A song to the tune of Land of Hope and Glory by Gareth Calway…

Out of the April blue, after a barren March,
Bristol City have won three Division One games in a row.
Even Club Call is dumbfounded as we win 4-1 today,
Wondering "Where now for City?"
Our glorious reward is to move up one place
To second from bottom in the table.
We're not out of the wood yet.
We'll never be out of the wood,
We’ll never get out of the forest
And the forest is full of Wolves
And Railwaymen and Foxes and Blades
But -.
We will follow the City
Over land and sea
AND CARDIFF
Through Perfidious Albion
Onto victory!
Ahead and behind
These death-or-glorious victory banners of Logres
Which stretch their dragon red
From Brandon Hill, Bristol,
To Lyonesse in the fabled west
Lie years and decades and centuries of defeat,
This triple crown of defiance
Is but an elfin barque in a black stormy sea,
A flower of chivalry in a fell forest,
(Like a sea of Welsh dragons as Wales win once at Wembley)
A Celtic candle in the Dark Ages
An Arthurian sundown over Somerset
But how bright those pennants of victory shine!

Thanks to Gareth for his great contribution. We’re off to grab our dictionaries…
